Approximately 25 years ago, my life was turned upside down, which is part of what has drawn me to this work. I lost my job after 16 years due to corporate restructuring, and then 6 months later I experienced the painful and difficult end of my 12 year relationship leaving me as a single mother to 2 young girls. My whole world became about my children, and I soon stuffed all my emotions down deep inside of me; I essentially lost who I was. A friend referred me to a psychotherapist, and from that moment on, my journey has become a beautiful transformation. I conquered many of my fears that were holding me back, I embraced the amazing woman I am and for the first time and I began putting ME first. I went back to school at age 40, and there began my career as a counsellor, psychotherapist and life coach.
In 2005, I graduated a 3 year program from George Brown College as a Certified Life Skills Coach and Human Services Counsellor, and went on to take a 2 year program at Transformational Arts College to become a Psychotherapist. I am registered with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO) and a full member of the Canadian Professional Counsellors Association (CPCA).
In the first few weeks of 2013, I was yet again affected by corporate downsizing and restructuring. I was faced with the challenging decision about where my future endeavours would be best served. I made the empowering decision to move forward and follow my passion in focusing on my independent practice…this was my “Leap of Faith”.
During my 18 years of experience in this field, I have worked with clients dealing with depression, anxiety, lack of self-esteem/self-confidence, stress, fear, addictions, PTSD, grief and anger. I have been privileged in witnessing many amazing and beautiful moments of personal growth and transformation along the way.
